Los Gruff Update: Logo

Hello everyone. Nearing the very end of post production. Here is the Los Gruff emblem. A motorcycle riding tree sloth version of the Mayan calender.
Here are a few of logo designs I went through on my way to the final emblem above and the final title design as you see it on the head of this blog.

I will check back in upon the short's completion.

Los Gruff Update: Background/Character Design

Hello, Los Gruff has picture lock and I am currently finishing up the audio and score with my composer Vinny Iannelli. I will check back in on the completion date. Here are a few more backgrounds and a first look at some of the character design work.

This project was started years ago. Back then I did not have the drafting skills to properly animate the characters so as I slowly learned how, the sloths and eagle went through a range of designs.

Above was the original look of the characters. I'm still unsure why I initially decided the tree sloths should have the ability to stand.

Over the course of production a couple characters were lost in script changes. In an earlier version of the short the sloths daydream.
One of the male sloths originally dreamed of this big beauty. You can see a few of the key frames from her moment below.

The female sloth's daydream included a frog giving her a manicure. Below is one of the cells from that animation.

In the end I cut the daydream scene for timing purposes.

I will check back in again when the short is completed. Thanks
